This relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop introduces participants to the basics of hand sewing through the creation of a soft felt bird. There is no right or wrong way to make your bird—you'll choose colours, fabrics and decorations to create something completely unique.

Along the way you'll discover how reclaimed textiles can be transformed into beautiful handmade objects, giving materials a second life while reducing textile waste.

Suitable for complete beginners and children (with adult support where appropriate).

During the Workshop Participants Will

  • Learn basic hand sewing techniques

  • Thread and safely use a sewing needle

  • Sew using a simple running stitch and blanket stitch (or whip stitch)

  • Learn how to stuff and finish a soft ornament

  • Explore colour, texture and creative embellishment

  • Understand how textile reuse supports the circular economy

  • Leave with a completed bird ornament to take home
