Repairs we can carry out:
- Simple Seam Repairs:Restitching open seams or reinforcing weak areas in garments.
- Hemming:Shortening pants, skirts, or dresses by hemming them. Replacing or repairing fallen hems.
- Button Replacement:Sewing on new buttons or tightening loose ones.
- Zipper Repairs:Replacing broken zippers on pants, skirts, or jackets. Reattaching loose zippers or fixing zipper pulls (if the zipper itself isn’t broken).
- Patching Holes:Patching small holes or tears, either with visible patches or by sewing them closed. Adding patches for both decorative and functional purposes.
- Taking In or Letting Out Seams:Adjusting the fit of garments by taking in or letting out seams, though this depends on the original garment's seam allowance.
- Reinforcing Fabric:Strengthening areas that are prone to wear and tear, like knees or elbows, with additional fabric or interfacing.
- Elastic Replacement: Replacing or repairing stretched-out elastic bands in waistbands or sleeves.
Repairs we can't carry out:
- Complex Alterations:Significant resizing of garments (e.g., taking in multiple sizes or altering complex garments like suits or tailored dresses) may require advanced tailoring skills and tools.
- Extensive Structural Repairs:Repairing large tears or holes in heavy fabrics like denim or leather might be challenging without specialized equipment or materials.
- Specialty Fabrics:Working with delicate fabrics like silk, satin, or lace can be tricky and might require specific techniques or tools that you may not have.
- Invisible Mending:Repairs that need to be invisible (like mending a tear in the middle of a fine fabric) may require advanced techniques beyond basic sewing skills.
- Reweaving:Fixing tears or holes in woven fabrics by reweaving the fabric threads is a specialized skill that most repair cafes are not equipped to handle.
- Leather or Heavy Fabric Repairs:Repairing leather, heavy canvas, or upholstery fabric typically requires special needles, thread, and sometimes even an industrial sewing machine.
- Complex Zipper Replacements:While simple zipper replacements are possible, more complicated ones (e.g., on heavy coats, leather jackets, or boots) may require special tools or a professional tailor.
- Darning: Mending small holes in knitwear like socks, sweaters, or gloves by darning by hand.Â
We look forward to welcoming you :D
